Warm-Up 1 asks you to write a personal presentation for a web site. This is a general message that goes out to everyone who visits the web site of the new company you've just got a job with. I.e. it needs to be informative, but a bit general - and a good piece of advertising for your new employer. In other words, you need to show how smart your new employer is for hiring you!
You'll find a couple of useful links on the Warm-Up 1 page: one from the 'How to Do Things' site with some general advice, and an example of personal presentations from the Ericsson company.
When the Warm-Ups have all been marked and sent back (by me, David), I'll post a general comment in a post on this blog, with advice for everyone about Send-In Task 1.

Mr. Emil Johansson is a Swedish citizen born in 1985. He is well known and liked throughout the county of Kalmar because of his success in leading KFUM Kalmar Saints both as a player and as a member of the board of directors. Mr. Johansson holds a degree in International Business and Communications from Oxford University, England. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Swedish Basketball Association and of the Swedish Olympic Committee. Mr. Johansson was most recently President and C.E.O of Fritidsresor AB, a well known Swedish travelagent company, where during his tenure he led Fritidsresor AB back to a leading role on the Scandinavian market.

ReplyDeleteI’ve always paid a big interest in east-Asia and especially China for its immense history and culture. Admitting that my task will be challenging I also acknowledge that I am a very flexible and enthusiastic person, and I will strive to make this a long-term exchange of products as well as experiences.

As a new employee and a marketing engineer in the Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB I will use my experiences and visions to find new modern well-designed products for demanding European customers. The system is controlled by a computer so a lot of different variations can be configured, it can, to example, act almost as a secretary, taking messages and forwarding them to different e-mail addresses or as sms.
Some words about me. I can’t imagine life without development and constant learning. I love to spend time with my family, consisting of a 5-year old son and a husband. Gardening and fixing with our house is also something I do together with my husband. After I graduated from elementary school I moved to Gothenburg where I earned a Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the School of Business, Economics and Law at Gothenburg University. Two months ago I returned to Kalmar to take on my new position at Västervik Experience.
I have more than 5 years of experience from the tourism industry, most recently from Göteborg & Company where I was the head of the Leisure Travel Department.
It is with great enthusiasm that I will take on my role at Västervik Experience, and I hope that my love for the east oust region and knowledge and experiences in the tourist trade will be an important contribution to the company. I am also planning, with help from my new colleges, on applying the successful promoting of the Gothenburg region to the Kalmar region with the goal to highlight Kalmar as on of Sweden’s most important tourist resorts.

The new coordinator of the Västervik Experience is me, Åsa Isaksson! Not long ago I left Peking after a wonderful month with sports in the Bird´s Nest. Now we are expecting the Chinese to come and see Västervik! With my 30-hp Chinese course and great China interest I will meet them properly. The knowledge I got from studying Tourism Management at the University of Westminster, will benefit the development of The Västervik Experience. In Sweden I have worked three years with Skärgårdguiden, which is a market place on the net for business in the Swedish archipelago. There I deployed skills in managing websites, which will be an advantage when we now make the Västervik Expecience known all over to China.

Presentation of our new marketing engineer!
Since yesterday Mr Thomas Olofsson is the marketing engineer of Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB in Nybro. Here he presents himself.
My name is Thomas Olofsson and I´m originally from Götene in Västergötland. I´m a graduate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. After business practise in several large companies, even abroad, and in several different branches, I happened to get a tip from a very good friend. My friend told me Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB needed a new marketing engineer. As soon as I met the leader of the company and was presented to its competent staff, premises and machinery of production, I realized this was the new challenge that I needed. Alsjöholm Mekaniska has been a prospering company with high-end technology products for a long time. I believe I can bring the company some new ideas and create further contacts with new partners for coming, favourable affairs.
I believe my experiences will contribute to bring new products, capital and knowledge to my new employer. We shall work for higher standards of environmental thinking and ultimately safeguarding the jobs at Alsjöholm.

Emelie Nilsson
ReplyDeleteMs. Nilsson was born in Torsby, Sweden, in 1984. She has a bachelor in marketing from the University of Kalmar, and is specialized in ethics and intercultural communication. Her latest work was as chairwoman at the Student Union at the University of Kalmar.
Ms. Nilsson’s skills in intercultural communications and her work experiences make her perfect for the job as Business Manager here at Påryd Projektering. She will be the chief for the day-to-day running of our new and exciting contact with China.

My name is Åsa Rollsjö, and I am the new Business Manager at Påryd Projektering. I have a background as a student of business administration and organizational theory at Kalmar University. I have extensive experience of managing small projects from my time as a student union representative. My year as vice president of the Student Union in Kalmar has given me a broad knowledge of how to professionally manage projects and business contacts. The sea and the beautiful archipelago are two of the things that I Linda Johansson strongly associate with the unique town of Västervik. After growing up in the midland of Sweden, the first thing I did after graduated from high school, was to move to a city close to the coast.
ReplyDeleteI took the job as a leader of the Västervik Experience after several years in the competitive tourism industry were I have among other things worked in a hotel and as a guide at a castle. The tourism industry has always interested me and it finally led me to a Bachelor Degree in Tourism- Economics from the University of Kalmar.

1999-2005 Marketing Director at the Ice Hotel, Jukkasjärvi. Prior to this Marianne worked in her own company “No Limits”, mainly as a consultant in different marketing projects, such as Absolut Vodka Chili and the launch of the pop group Roxette in Japan.
2005-2008 Coordinator of Development Cooperation between China and Sweden at the Embassy of Sweden, Beijing.
She has been a voluntary worker for Amnesty International since 1980 and is a member of the Association of Inspiring Speakers in Småland.

My name is Nathalie Berglin and I have recently been employed as the manager of the Västervik experience company with a mission is to put Västervik on the touristic map of Sweden. I was enrolled at the tourism management program at Kalmar University and graduated 2003 with a Master Degree in Business Administration. I have substantial experience of tourism management, particularly destination development. After graduation I was employed as a project leader in destination development in Jokkmokk in the north of Sweden. During this employment I increased the incoming tourist statistics with 30% percent.
I would describe myself as an outgoing and energetic person very interested in sports. Tennis and surfing are my specialties. On my spare time I prefer to travel and exploring other cultures. After training computer science and project management at the technical college Leonding (Austria), he graduated as a bachelor in business administration with specialisation in industrial sales from Växjö University (Sweden). From 2002 to 2004 he was sales manager for Electrolux Professional Laundry, responsible for all sales in the Middle East. After a year of backpacking I found my direction in life. This resulted in Studies at The Baltic Business School in Kalmar starting 2004 with tourism as my main subject. I have always found pleasure in working with people As person I am outgoing and service minded, qualities that fits right in with this line of work. Before I came to The Västervik Experience I worked as a guide at Ving travelling agency. I started my career with working different places; Cyrus, Italy and Åre is just a smaller selection. My final work at Ving, were in Thailand were I was promoted to the position place manager, quite uncommon for an employee in my age.

I live with my husband and our two children in Lidköping, a small town in the Western part of Sweden. The most of my spare time I am spending at the sea on our boat, on skies, on the back of a horse or driving the children to their activities.

My name is Ana Palenzuela and I’m the newest and youngest staff member of The Västervik Experience. I have a Bachelors Degree in Tourism Management from Queensland University in Australia, after graduation I travelled the world for a year and a half before moving back to Sweden where I started working at a tourist information center for a couple of years. Since I grew up in the east coast I saw The Västervik Experience job opening as an opportunity to return to my roots. I have various ideas for how to advertise and most importantly how to allure future guest to such a beautiful and serene town as Västervik. It has numerous potential of becoming one of the leading tourist spots in Scandinavia due to the archipelagos and its breath taking surroundings.

I started my career as a Research Engineer within pulping and chemical recovery at STFI-Packforsk AB, 2004-2007. There I gathered deep and broad knowledge within the pulp & paper field. My first contact with mechanical construction was at Air Liquide Nordic as a Business and Application Developer in pulp & paper. Some selected professional trainings during those years include CAD, Business Development, Entrepreneurship and Marketing & Sales.

My technical background and sales experience will contribute to Alsjöholm’s success especially now when Alsjöholm will start lego-manufacturing of the equipment for the next generation fuels funded by the Swedish Forest Industry Federation. In 2011 the first tall diesel plant will be started and in 2013 the first gasification pilot plant to produce methanol from biomass will realized. Both will be located in Piteå, Sweden.

To work with such an interesting project as The Västervik Experience in collaboration with other skilled communication co-workers, is a privilege and I will do my best to keep up the quality of the marketing material and improve the channels of communication. I´m committed, used to fast turns and jumping between projects and have a lot of new ideas of how to make Västervik the most interesting place in Sweden. My name is Anne-Sofie Olsson and is the new Business Manager at Påryd Projektering AB . I’m looking forward to work with the new Chinese contract. I think we could build good business relationships that will gain both Påryd and the Chinese market. I’m convinced that we will offer the Chinese investors a contract that they will find appealing and we will show them number of reason to establish in the Kalmar region.
I have a Bachelor degree in Business Economics and before joining Påryd I worked six years at OKQ8 financial department. There I was responsible for coordinating the planning activity within the accounting and establish strong working relationships with their International Business partners.

Tina Abrahamsson is the Manager of The Västervik Experience since January 2009. Ms Abrahamsson earned a Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the School of Business, Economics and Law at Gothenburg University. She has worked in the tourism industry for several years. Most recently she was employed by Kalmar Tourist Office, for three years. Before that she worked as a guide at Ving Travelling Agency. She has over the past eight years lived in five different countries and speaks English, Swedish, German and Spanish fluently.

Miss Emilia Kongbäck was born 1983 in Ulricehamn, Sweden. With a Master in Social Entrepreneurship she started her own company within the Renewable Energy sector directly after her graduation. Since then Miss Kongbäck has been involved in the development of many wellknown companys, such as Paperfly, Waves World and Your Choice, delivering several products with the aim to bring new energy alternatives to the automobile sector and the paper industry.
